Asking $69,995.
Dealer Notes:
1966 JAGUAR E TYPE CONVERTIBLE $69,995.00 Here we have what most people believe to be the most desirable E Type model of all to own. This is the Series 1, 4.2 litre, 6-cylinder engine, with the all synchromesh gearbox. It still has the beautiful covered headlights, the toggle switch dashboard and the eared knock offs for the wire wheels. The car we have is a lovely example of an unmolested E Type and something that today is very hard to find. 25 years ago this quality of car was easy to find. Today that is a different story. Almost gone are the nice original cars, most today are either overly restored or junk that need to be restored. To our knowledge and from what we have learned through records and from the previous owner the car has possibly had only 3 owners from new. It is finished in the original colour combination it was built in, and in fact the previous owner thought it was original paint. That we can’t be sure of but if it has been painted it was done many years ago. It does have an original patina to it as does the interior although that had a Bartlett interior kit installed back around 1986, back when you could still get the very authentic leather. The mileage indicated is 61,313 and is believed to be original. Everything about this car, including the records we have, would indicate that to be accurate. We have the Jaguar Heritage Trust papers for the car and we have records dating back to 1978. Finished in Cream (Old English White) with Red leather interior and Black convertible top. $69,995

I just bought this car in Santa Monica and would like to add the following from Heritage Certificate #4829, 4/5/1992: Body Number 4E 2924, Gearbox # EJ 4680, Date of Manufacture: 9/8/1965, Exterior: Cream (not Old English White), Interior: Red, Hood: Black, Distributor: Jaguar Cars New York, Dispatched: 5/10/1966 (certificate says 1965, but this must be a typo), New York, NY, USA. Can this be added to "build plate" above? Any previous owner, please contact me.

The English used a different way to relay the date information. You are reading the dates incorrectly; here is how they are displayed on the Heritage Certificates day/month/year. So your car was built on August 9, 1965 and it was dispatched from Coventry on October 5, 1965 -- makes sense time wise.

Sellers description:
Series I 1966 Jaguar E-type 4.2 litre OTS. SURVIVOR class VIN #1E11525. Collectible, unmolested, lovingly maintained triple carb, synchro trans, numbers matching California car. 62,651 documented miles since new. Includes a binder with ALL RECORDS since 1978, and the blue vanity plate 66 ETYPE. I have contacted all but the original owner, one Eugene E. Smith, who sold the car in 1977 and may have gone to that great Coventry Motors in the sky. Mostly original gorgeous CREME paint (bonnet looks to have been resprayed decades ago), mostly original RED interior (leather seat covers replaced in 1986 with original-grade Bartlett leather. I replaced torn armrest cover and door rubber). Heritage Trust Certificate, of course. Easily-reversed modifications include a powerful, ipod-connectible vintage look stereo/amp and state-of-the-art alarm. Maintained and tuned by famed Santa Monica British XKE guru Radcliffe Reid at British Car Clinic, who would be happy to reassure you of the value of this prime and rapidly appreciating example. Drive as is or use as a perfect specimen to do a "rotisserie" restoration on -- there would be no structural surprises that cost tens of thousands of dollars to repair. Close visual inspection reveals only one area of rust behind driver's rear wheel well (pictured), and NO STRUCTURAL RUST/DAMAGE/or REPAIR. In my three years of ownership, I've put on correct Pirelli Centurato tyres ($1725 for four), restored the entire front end/ steering, brake and clutch servos, front and rear brakes (all expensive propositions!) so car tracks, corners and stops as new. Radcliffe has those triple carbs tuned and running spectacularly. I was going to keep this car forever, but I have two sons in private school and next year's tuition is 64G, so sadly, the E's gotta go. You have to see car in person to appreciate, so I invite you to arrange inspection before bidding. If you're serious, I can ask Radcliffe talk to you before making the effort to come to Santa Monica.
