Auction description:
Sale 17328 - Vintage New England, Important Motorcars and Automobilia, 26 Sep 2009
Larz Anderson Auto Museum, Brookline, Massachusetts
Lot No: 438•
Approximately 42,000 miles and just one previous owner from new
1972 Jaguar E Type V12 Convertible
Chassis no. 1S 20506
This is a benchmark example of one of the most iconic British sports cars of all time, Jaguar’s E Type. Dating from 1972 as an early V12 car it has the more desirable look of its forebears with chrome bumpers, and is not only a manual transmission example of the convertible model, but has resided in just one previous ownership from new.

A highly original fully documented car it comes with an extensive file of invoices and records which include its original purchase document. These detail its original order specification to have the additions of with wire wheels, white wall tires, air-conditioning, tinted glass and an AM/FM radio.

Finished in its original paint scheme of Regency red and with a black interior, its paintwork has been redone once, while the interior remains the original. This is in remarkably good condition, with unmarked door panels, good carpets and complete details as supplied new. A couple of minor splits/tears to the leather seat squabs are the only signs of its years. Of particular interest to those that appreciate original details, the car retains many of its factory inspection stickers and with the exception of its repaint must be pretty much as it left the Coventry, UK Works.

In essence the car is best described as being a clean and very original E Type which is extremely good for its age and is testament to careful ownership and a modest recorded mileage of approximately 42,000 miles from new.

Sold for $35,100 inclusive of Buyer's Premium

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
