Additional info from above auction:
Status SOLD
Estimate £12000 - 14000
Hammer Price £9750.00
This Series 3 E has had three keepers from new in 1973 when the V12-engined, righthand drive, 2+2 coupe first left the Browns Lane, Coventry, factory, to be supplied to the first owner in Manchester. The fixed head is still in its original and distinctive heather colour scheme, the headlining having been renewed and new wire wheels and tyres fitted in the recent past.

The monocoque is currently described as OK, the body panels and paintwork as seen, the leather good, the 5.3-litre twelve and 3-speed auto-shift transmission reportedly excellent, the electrical equipment good and the wheels and tyres still nearly new. The 43,000 mileage displayed when entered for this sale is certified by the vendor to be the genuine total mileage for this car from new. The latest MOT was passed only last month, so the certificate will not require renewing until next June.

Sellers description:
RESTORED 1973 JAGUAR E TYPE 5.3 V12 2+2 COUPE FOR SALE WITH A LOW RESERVE. This car has just undergone a £6500 refurbishment and is stunning in every way.

The car has extensive service history and documentation which includes invoices, tax discs and MOT documents.

As you can see by the photos the wheels on the car are in stunning condition as is the interior, there are no rips or tears in the interior, the exterior of the car is also in exceptional condition with no rust dents or scratches.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
