Ebay item 3/17/04
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $20,100 (Reserve not met), 2 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers comment:
You are bidding on a beautiful 1963 XKE Roadster. This car was originally purchased in California and has never left. It has spent many leisure years parked in San Diego as apparently a Sunday beach driver. As such, it is a very original specimen. The upgrade to a more powerful 4.2 liter engine and full synchro'ed transmission increases the driving pleasure. This jaguar is running and with a full service, will be a nice daily driver. This will allow you to enjoy while you restore at your convenience. All body gaps are correct with no door sag. The paint is nice with slight damage to the left bottom area of the bonnet under the bumper. The chrome and glass are also in great shape. The interior is in good shape and the door panels were recently recovered. The top is serviceable. A new 5 core radiator and mixing box has been installed, along with new hoses.

Vehicle Condition
This Jaguar is in good overall condition. The tires are old and worn and should be replaced. The paint are in very good condition. There is slight damage to the left bonnet under the bumper but nothing noticable. This car runs and drives but should be serviced. This car has not been restored but is very nice as is.

Car has a buy it now price of $94,900 for 19 days. Seller shelby9204, 22k miles, car now said to be in Beverly Hills, California. Previous listing has been removed.

Sellers description:
This is a Southern California 1962 Jaguar XKE roadster. Note a sampling of the vehicle registrations over the years in one of the photos. Mileage on the odometer shows just 22,995.

I purchased the car about 8 or so years ago with plan of making it a high performance XKE. At the time it was a good running Jaguar but I wanted a perfect car and so restoration work was begun at a local exotic car repair and restoration shop. However, the mechanic who was working on my car left and so for the last 8 years the car has (literally) been sitting on a hydraulic lift for all these years! (No exposure to moisture here!)

Since I purchased the car the value of the XKE, particularly the super early cars like this one, has gone up dramatically. Such that the only logical thing to do is restore it back to OEM stock. I simply do not have the time at this point in my life to do the restoration so I am putting the car up for sale, this time with its matching number engine and the original four speed manual gearbox. Plus, my passion was for a high performance build not a stock build. But with the collectablity of these very early E-Types this car is better suited to a pure restoration.

Included in the sale are thousands of dollars in new replacement parts, many of which be duplicative. E.g., the original bumpers are in good shape but i purchased another set anyway. Similarly, the door handles, etc. The wire wheels are new as well. The interior (seats, door panels, etc.) are good enough to probably use as is but if someone is restoring it they should be gone over as well.

The engine is currently being gone through, including a valve job and upon delivery it should be ready to simply be dropped in the car.

Seller appears to have incorrectly listed the VIN in May. You can still see the auction at the link at 878632 .

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
